It's All About the Eyes

I remember when I was 8 years old and I heard those dreaded words "you will need glasses." I was so angry that I was the only kid in my class that was considered "the four-eyed freak." When I arrived to school I would immediately remove my glasses before I headed into the classroom. In middle school, my eyesight became worse since I spent my elementary years not wearing my prescription glasses. I realized the horrible fact that eyeglasses would always be a major part of my life. However, during the summer of 2006 I had an "Aha moment" and my attitude towards eyeglasses completely changed. My dad and I decided to go to the mall and shop for some summer clothes. As we browsed from store to store, I notice a woman that was probably in her early 30's wearing the fiercest eyeglasses that I had ever seen in my life. My dad noticed her fancy eyewear as well and told me that her glasses reminded him of the popular 80's eye-wear brand Cazal. After that day at the mall I knew that it was time that I took a different approach to eyeglasses.

I began searching the Internet to look at many well-known designers and view their beautiful interpretations about eyewear. I realized that eyewear was another world in the fashion realm that I needed to explore. Today I currently own a stylish pair of reading eyeglasses by a designer named Genevieve. The frames are a chic black with studded crystals on the side (seen below).

Recently, I came across a website called www.vintage-sunglasses-shop.com that has a plethora of unique, stylish, and unforgettable vintage Cazal glasses. As I was scrolling down the page of the website I immediately spotted these beautiful white eyeglasses called Cazal 313 that were originally made in 1985. The frames have a butterfly shape with a perfect sparkle of rhinestones.

Also, on the website I spotted these gorgeous sunglasses that have a sleek combination of navy blue and periwinkle. The eyewear is called Cazal 196 and was originally made in 1984.

Here's an old school commercial of the Cazal eyewear. I think the commercial is quite hilarious and it includes many different Cazal eyeglasses.

  1. I love your blog. I wear glasses and honestly, I prefer to wear my glasses over my contacts any day. Your blog opened my eyes the different styles of glasses and I will look into getting me a pair.
