Campus Style

The campus of Hampton University has some of the most stylish and trend setting young women I have ever seen. My fellow classmate Crystal Ransom, a junior Broadcast Journalism major from Hampton, VA is among the elite on campus when it comes to fashion. She describes her style as eclectic, unique, and often times random.

Her style icons include the beautiful Victoria Secret model, Chanel Iman, who is always known for her sleek elegant attire. Also, socialite, businesswoman, and TV personality, Kim Kardashian made Ransom’s list as another style icon for her sexy, edgy, and classic ensembles.

Ransom’s favorite designers are Rachel Roy, Michael Kors, and Christian Louboutin. She enjoys each designer’s remarkable outlook on fashion for women and how each designer creates clothes that are unprecedented.

As a college girl on a budget, Ransom currently enjoys shopping at H&M, American Apparel, and Gap. She was a big fan of Forever 21 but she believes that as the clothing store has grown, it has become unorganized and the quality of the clothes are very cheap.

Her plans after graduation include finding a job as a radio personality or writing for a fashion magazine. She believes that fashion and her career will intertwine greatly because Ransom believes that a great wardrobe is necessary for any career.

“It doesn’t matter where you work, a person should always take pride in the way he or she looks,” said Ransom.

Ransom has three goals that she wants to complete in her life, which include learning how to swim, live in either New York or Los Angeles, and meet her favorite celebrity Drake. Her hobbies include writing stories and poetry. Ransom also enjoys searching different websites to find fashion ideas to inspire her style.

She enjoys fashion because without it, the world would be very boring. Ransom believes that everyone has their own style even if others don’t agree or understand that persons fashion expression.
